What does the tape do to the cents? Cause in the pictures they kinda looked like they were a different color under the tape. That's sad. I had that book when I was a kid, and I wouldn't have done that.
I am trying to figure this one out yet. Back in my coin folder days, the cents were the only ones that stayed in worth a darn!
OMG! That's horrible! So, if they had 2 coins of the same year/mintmark, they taped the 2nd one over the first one. Why not just get another booK? Or flips? Or trade them for the missing ones?
hey! don't be so hard on the former owner of these coins! He was trying to preserve them to retain future value. (unfortunately not untrue) LOL I guess that didn't work out so well for him, now did it?
It appears to me that the person filling in the slots either didn't know or didn't care what grade and color he or she used to fill the slot. That was almost a total waste of time. Very disappointing the collector had no guidence.
at least the tape was only on the second, outer coin... there's another coin behind it that had not been mangled. Just shows how different people approach the "hobby." For this person, it was about completing a set, not preserving (or even enjoying) individual coins.
I am now going to start a new Non Profit organization. PETC - People for the Ethical Treatment of Coins.
