Good morning! Just called Whitman Publishing to check on the status of the new edition of the Cherrypicker's Guide. Last time I called (a few months ago) I was given an approximate release date of Nov 15 (which I remembered because it's my birthday) so I figured I'd check in. Website has nothing about it. Called Whitman customer service number and basically got the "there is no approximate release date planned and maybe sometime in 2022." So I wouldn't hold your breath if you were waiting for the new version. If anyone has any insider knowledge and would like to share, I for one would welcome the skinny.
Happy Birthday yesterday. On the book, everything is late, delayed, it seems. Except me, I'm an early bird.
Im sure the pandemic has printed matter either held up do to lack of help in the printers, or perhaps stuck on a boat somewhere. I am a book worm but the CPG is so out dated with so many web sites one can book mark on your pad or phone. Besides the on going errors in the CPG....I personally dont need it any longer....but to answer the op question it's going to be like everything else that is stuck in the system do to covid. While I was employed in the food business...I used the middle East, and Europe as a barometer as to what to expect here state side. We seem to be 14 to 18 days behind covid issues in the middle East and Europe. We received so much food product from other countries. I could make pretty good calls on shipments By doing so.... I recall a customer who wanted a guarantee of pricing, and delivery of brie cheese from November through mid February for Valentine's day. I had to laugh as I asked him respectfully what planet are you on? Sometimes you try to reinvent the wheel....but only if you have a pencil to draw with.
Happy Birthday!! On the CU forum there is a thread about the upcoming Whitman show. I asked for an update from any of the attendees. Got a very positive response. https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1066590/whitman-baltimore-show-plan#latest
