I just wanted to post these coins that I got from @lordmarcovan as gifts. I really like many turn-of-the-century European designs, especially from France and Italy. I especially admire French medals by Bottee. Thanks for your generosity @lordmarcovan!
Meow might in fact have had a piece of silver there, though I think there were also some later uses of the same classic "Semeuse" (Sower) design in aluminum. (None I can recall in a half-dollar size, though?)
That's a nice example. I got a biggish bulk lot of French stuff not long ago, heavy on aluminum pieces like shown, including Vichy and mid-20th century colonial material. That's how come some folks like @JeffC here end up finding them as freebies in their envelopes.
Yes, but I can think of any half-dollarish sized aluminum coins with the Semeuse design, can you? There might be. I just don't remember.
Ah, I misread. No, I don't think there were any aluminum Semeuse coins of any size, unless they were patterns maybe.
Meow is old, for a kitty. Older than previously assumed. Maybe Meow is in fact an undead creature resurrected from one of those wrapped cat mummies they find in Egyptian tombs. If so, I hope Meow saved some Syracusan dekadrachms and Roman gold aureii from his later travels.
