Out of curiosity, I decided to Google "sestertius song" to see if there was any music about the hefty Roman bronze denomination. Well, I got this bit of techno/synthpop!

NYINC can be a little high-brow and stuffy, imho. Say what you want about Caligula but the man knew how to throw a party.

This Marcus Aurellius is currently my favorite sestertius, mostly because it just came in the mail today!

It's also theme appropriate because the eagle on the reverse has it's wings in the air!

You baseball fans have heard of the Green Monster at Fenway Park right? Well I've got my own green monster in this 30 gram, 35mm sestertius of Antoninus Pius with a magnificent patina. Indulgentia Seated.

(The Roman concept of indulgentia did not have the negative connotation it retains in English. Indulgentia was the personification of leniency, pardon, kindness, gentleness, and the remission of sins. The term took on a negative aspect during the Protestant Reformation, with the backlash to the Catholic Church’s selling of “indulgences.”)

That sent me down a rabbit hole of YouTube videos last night watching Devo, Blondie (who they've been on tour with in recent years), Talking Heads ...

I saw Devo playing live at the 1978 Knebworth rock festival in the UK ... they were not well received by a crowd expecting more conventional fare!

 

Pupienus has a baggy eyed look because he stayed up watching Abba videos. See the dancing queen with a tambourine on the reverse:

 

Unfortunately, I don't have any images that resemble dancing on sestertii, or on any coins for that matter.....
