I just recieved an email this evening from Tim Pope ,Ron's son. Ron passed on Tuesday the 9th. Ron was a dear friend who shared with me ,our love of this hobby,as well our pups! I will miss Ron very much....he helped me though some tough nights after my surgery. God Bless the Pope Family Ron I will miss you a lot my friend.. I'm very sure there were some wagging tails that greeted you as you walked though the gates..... give them a pat for me.....Paddy https://www.newcomerakron.com/Obituary/206657/Ronald-Pope/Akron-OH
very sad, he was a buffalo nickel specialist and shared his knowledge with many collectors over the years. I never had a chance to meet him, but he was well liked in the coin collecting community.
I thank you for your kind words...but "we all" lost something on Tuesday....if you ever looked at a buffalo nickel...and wanted to know more about this iconic series...Ron was your go to guy! He was a loving husband, a devoted father,a veteran, most of all a man with a huge heart . He was unselfish with his time to share with anyone his love of this hobby, and his photos of his beloved dogs. He loved to cherrypick...another hawk eye has fallen...but will never be forgotten. Thanks Ron.... Ron's avatar one of his beloved dogs
Ron I couldn't help but to honor you by this 1915 D Buffalo nickel. Purchased early this morning thinking about you.
