Thanks for the notice about this book, Leila. Do you have access to it? I'm having a bit of trouble imagining one volume, with 200 error notes, covering the entire planet outside of the USA. I'm sure it would be a great book with all sorts of information, but is it "a mile wide and a foot deep?". If you have access to the book, can you give us a general feeling of the table of contents, for example is there a section on each country of the world, with one page per country? Or does it just focus on a subset of "all countries"? If there are 200 example notes, does that mean the entire book only lists 200 errors, or does it mean that many errors are listed and priced, but only 200 are pictured?

Thanks for any additional info you might have,
    Dave

The error notes are organized into about 20 chapters. Each chapter briefly discusses an error and how it occurs in the printing process and is followed by examples of that error. The examples total to 200 notes. Not ever country is represented, only about 72. Each note lists a market value. Values for notes not presented are not listed. The beginning of the book discusses domestic vs. foreign notes, and a grading scale created by author Morland Fischer. The Foreign Error Note (FEN) Scale explains how rare each type of error occurs. By type of error, I mean cutting error, printing error (underinking, overinking, etc), missing back, so on and so forth. The book is 250 pages. I personally don't think Mr. Fischer bit off more than he could chew, he does a great job of introducing and explaining what he presents and also captured my attention enough to want to know what other notes are out there. It is also in full color so it is very asthetically pleasing.
Let me know what other questions I can answer. :)

AH, makes sense Leila. I was thinking more of a catalog of errors, but it's much more clear to me now. Sounds like a great book, I'll probably pick it up.

Phenomenal Book! Great For Kids, Adults, Collectors, et cetera

I just received my edition of World Paper Money Errors, and let me tell you this is nothing short of amazing. It reaches both extremes of coin collecting as well as those who are not yet involved. Some numismatics books I have read do not explain the meaning behind the coins or notes; however, WPME has visuals and an example of what the original note looks like.

The material is very advanced, yet it is very attractive to those who are just getting started in the coin collecting business as well as individuals who are unaware of this business. I just finished the book and showed it to some friends and they were wowed by the visuals and international theme. No matter where you live in the world, it will reach everyone's interests.

I tried showing some of my kids books similar to these and they weren't interested at all. When I showed them WPME, first they just skimmed through the book, but later that day, I heard them fighting. Much to my surprise, it wasn't over the use of the computer, television or Nintendo Wii, but over the same book I purchased! So, I decided to purchase another book and now they are competing against each other to see who can read it first!

Congratulations on a spectacular book. Morland C. Fischer and Neil and Joel Shafer must be very proud of their accomplishments. I look forward to reading the sequel in a few years.
