Sorry about your father in law. I have purchased this microscope and should get it monday or tuesday I'm hoping monday I ordered it on saturday and paid for 1 day shipping but you never know coming off of a weekend but I'll send lots of pix like I said check my thread 1946S S over D and I will upload pics of that coin with the microscope to find out if it is a true S over D or not I am starting to think that it is not but you never know!
I am very sorry to hear about your father-in-law. I am very interested in how your LCD microscope performs but know you need time to be with your family now. Best wishes, TC
No it will be here tomorrow my mail normally runs around 4:30 p.m. I will post pix as I said I would! I'm so stoked I cannot wait I feel like such a nerd :goof:
Okay I just got it in I took a picture for you guys its one this thread about my 1946S S over D The image that was taken was at the farthest view I could not zoom out anymore but the image quality is good and all but I do wish it would go out just a little farther maybe 30x but oh well it does the job! Will be super easy to find errors. I have 6 2010 sheild lincoln cents I am going to inspect for errors of any kind
Do you have access to the ocular ( eyepiece) lens ( one at the top ) that the camera might attach or cover? If so, it is a 10X lens and if it is a standard diameter like 23 mm, you could also use a 5x ocular (ebay), and cut the magnification in half, to 20X, etc. I have several different eyepieces, so I can adapt my microscope's magnification to the size of the coin. Your manual might give some info. Jim
Dustin checks in. You know old fellow (young fellow) I do appologize for that Picasso remark. Don't know what came over me......:smile
The one closest to the "stage" where you put the coin is called the objective lens and there are 3 on your model. The eyepiece would be near the camera end, and it is possible that it is incorporated into the design and not accessible nor changeable. So you may be limited to a lower magnification of 40X. Jim
Saw your pic on the other thread, and I must say that the pic was great. This is obviously the item for variety collectors and definitely not intended to take pics of the whole coin. I would like some more feedback if possible and some more pics if you could.....and I don't care what they are. I just want to see the quality. Thanks again.
The image quality is great but, everything else is not. The image that was on the other thread was the biggest that it could be. I was hoping for a little bigger because I want to be able to navigate the coin easy and with it being that zoomed in it is hard to know exactly where you are looking at on the coin. Also if you use any other lens besides the x4 then it blocks the light and you cannot even see what you are viewing. Also I put a brand new 2010 Lincoln cent under the scope and it was two brite to see you can turn the light down but it is still to brite and does not come threw well on the screen. To be honest I'm sending it back because I cannot see new coins and I was going to buy a few rolls of 2010 Lincolns so that I could look for small errors but this cannot do that. So I'm just not sure if I like it enought to keep it.
Very disappointing. Sorry to hear about your disappointment. I am sure it still could play a limited roll with variety cion collectors. We can still hear Oopus' opinion once he has had a chance to take care of his family.
