I was looking for a certain size screw and in the bottom of the mason jar I found this (along with a few other wheats) I believe to be an off center strike. I know this coin is least 15 years old because I haven't looked in that jar for at least that long. Couple of questions... 1) Is this something that should be graded? 2) Because there is no date, is it worth anything? 3) Should I list this error somewhere? I know it is a post 1982 because of the weight.
A date would provide a higher value, but since there is none, I wouldn't get it graded. YOU might know how old it is, but as for the rest of us... Red book puts it at about $5, even without the date. Still a pretty cool find.
Frankly it looks amazingly well preserved for having spent 15 years in a mason jar full of screws. Hardly a mark on it.
It is indeed an off center strike. Not sure of the value cause i'm not an error guy but from what i've seen there not too terribly expensive. but definatley a great piece! Nice find! -Russ
