that was struck in 1996 and packed as a souvenir in Connecticut. All the packaging is original and it comes complete with a barcoded price tag. It’s even cast in lead free pewter so it has the look and feel of an original. The story is on the reverse but you’ll have to blow it up to read it. The only thing is, the word COPY is cut into the surface on the reverse. It’s small but it’s there, about 9 o’clock. Not a bad piece and a nice low priced souvenir. Wonder what they cost new today? I always buy cheap souvenir coin reproductions (most are made in China) whenever I travel. Why not?

My feelings exactly. If there is an elongated coin rolling machine I must have them, one of each that is. :)

I love the real dos mundos Spanish 8 reales. With the pillars of Hercules ( Morocco and Gibraltar) When they got beyond them they had the whole world. Of course they had to split it with Portugal in the treaty of Tordesillas.

It's a fun thing to show to kids or young people so they can understand history.

Plus ultra. Once they went beyond the pillars of Hercules (Morocco and Gibraltar) the Spanish had the whole world. Hence the dos mundos. Two hemispheres.
