Finally getting my 2 year old daughter more involved. I needed to (and still need to) sort alot of wheats, so I went to the store and bought one of those plastic shelving units that have seven shelves. My daughter came over as I was sorting. Since I was using each drawer as a diferent decade, I would hand her the coin and she would put it in the drawer for me.
Maybe by age six, she will do all of my sorting:rolleyes:.

Be careful with toddlers around coins.
Swallowing and becoming choked is a major concern.

She is very good when it comes to coins. I also only let her do it with my supervision. Any time she happens to find a coin the fell out of our pockets she goes directly to her coin basket and puts it in to save. That we taught her at a younger age.

I also have a two year old... she is sooo smart, and we have taught her early what to do and not to do..she is pretty good about following rules and directions. It is really a parent that does his job well that can say that about a two year old toddler... not to be toothing my own horn...but TOOT TOOT!!! lol

You keep it up and she just might be doing your sorting and album filling for you. Plus I am sure by then she will be wanting to do your buying to. :)

All my life I have been around extreme sports..I have had CPR taining numerous times...when my son AJ was 2.5 he was in my office at work..he got into the pepermint candy tray and came to me all Blue in the face...
w/o hesitation I turned him belly down face lower to the floor along my leg and using the palm of my hand struck him between the sholder blades..he coughed up the candy mint and started crying..I will never forget that! Thank the Lord I knew how and what to do.

    Never be too careful.

  13. My 7-year-old son loves roll searching and sorting cents with me (started when he was 5/6). Great time to bond and talk. My 5-year-old daughter loves to run her hands through the coins but that's about it. Glad to hear you are having fun. TC
