Someone shouls start a new thread on grading different types of U.S coins.
I would , but I dont have a scanner or dig. camera. If someone could post some pics and let every one guess what grade it is. this could be an interesting thread!!!!!!!!

Digital cameras can be had pretty inexpensively these days....I have a Kodak CX 6230 which has a 3X optical and 3X digital zoom, and they can be found on eBay, in good working condition, for less than $50.

Here are a couple of ASE's Guess the grades :) There are no milk spots and the scratches are on the holders.

I would say MS69 on the 86 but I bet ANACS put MS68....

Anyone else? I hate revealing the grades with only one guess. How about some more coins too? :D

Since I only own one certified coin,I have always been curious what grade this nickel would receive.Any guesses? The slight golden color is the light I used,it is bright white and full lustre.

WOW a "No Cents" 83. Without getting closer a look I'd have to say AU-58. If uncirculated, I would have to to with MS-64.

I would say on the CC MS61/2....the face looks a little messy with bag marks...the back is great!

I can't see the detail on the nickel so I can't say a grade...

    On the 86 ASE ms68
Proofs are harder to grade but my guess would be PR-69
    1882cc morgan front ms 64 back MS-66
i cant tell if those scratches on the front side are on the coin or my picture is a little blury. but if so the front would be 63 or 64

    Thanks guys,
I bought the nickel as MS-64 but have always been a bit suspicious.I suspect it would probably get a 60-62 if submitted.
I'm terrible at grading, especially Morgans. What is the highest grade ever given to one?

Do they have grades for this buffalo I got in change? EC=extra crappy? Surprisingly, the date is still very clear 1935

Here are the grades on the ASEs, they're 69's. The 82CC is raw.

Wow---I didn't think ANACS would go with MS69....but I sure thought it looked like it...
As for the PF--I almost sayd PF69DCAM but since I'm not good with PF coin grading I didn't....oh well...

If ANACS said 69, just about anyone else would have said 70.

I've heard that before. Does ANACS always undergrade. When I got these I carefully narrowed my search down in order to get the nicest (graded) ones I could locate. Also the small ANACS holders make storage easier. I keep my collection mostly in cigar boxes and one brinks fireproof safe deposit box.

IMO they grade better than the others in most cases....
Sometimes I have seen them overgrade a coin but as the case with all grading Co's. they grade by Market grading so that will almost always be higher than I say it is...

I'm not sure if NGC or PCGS would put a 70 on it....
I have yet to see a MS/PF70 coin from ANACS...your coin was the first MS69 I had seen by them....

Is it worth cracking open Mint issued proofs to get them graded in a hunt for "Ultra Cameo" which seems to jack up their value.

It can be - that's where they all come from after all. But you better be good at grading the coins yourself before you send them in - or you'll spend a LOT of money with little reward. Most of todays PF69 DCAM/UCAM sell for little more than the grading cost. Even the 70 DCAM/UCAM values have been dropping for the past couple of years due to the number of them out there. You see - everybody else has already had that same idea.
