Sorry - what are frn's ? 55 years old and I need to learn ANOTHER language - LOL

I am looking for US currency - but if Canadian currency also uses 8 digits for the ser# - they would be welcome as well.

I am a dummy when it comes to this - so please humor me!!

FRN = Federal Reserve Note (What you have in your wallet right now)
SC = Silver Certificate (blue seals)
USN = United States Note (red seals, very popular)
