Good afternoon all I’m hoping you guys can help me identify these as genuine clips, they seem to have the Blakesley effect but for some reason I’m not 100% sure they have not been tampered with, as always any help is much appreciated Clip? by Darren Edwards posted Nov 7, 2021 at 3:02 PM Clip? by Darren Edwards posted Nov 7, 2021 at 3:02 PM Clip? by Darren Edwards posted Nov 7, 2021 at 3:02 PM Clip? by Darren Edwards posted Nov 7, 2021 at 3:02 PM Clip? by Darren Edwards posted Nov 7, 2021 at 3:02 PM Clip? by Darren Edwards posted Nov 7, 2021 at 3:02 PM
they all look good to me but for the last one i was thinking of a rim burr rather than a incomplete planchet.
Thank you for the reply. Yes I was also skeptical of the wheat cent, I will have to look up a rim burr as I have not come across that error before. I’m just happy they look legitimate which means I didn’t overpay for them lol.
All look like incomplete planchets (clips) to me. It's always good to check the edge for the "Cut and tear" appearance. Some good info for anybody interested https://www.error-ref.com/_curved_clips_/
Thank you for the link, I did some checking online but I still wasn’t 100% sure so thought I would ask the experts lol. I’m happy they look correct to you guys
Thank you for the reply, I’m happy with them although I didn’t find them CRH I had to buy them in a lot
Three clips! Nice finds. The cent shows little wear for its age. I would say it got pulled from circulation early in its life.
Thanks, I was happy with them although I had to pay for them in a lot rather than find them in rolls. The wheat cent is in pretty good condition which is another reason why I wasn’t sure on it
The kind of coin I would be willing to pay for. And Thanks Darren, you just gave me my 10,000th likes!
Congratulations on the 10000 likes, happy to help lol. I’m glad I’m not the only person willing to spend on some of these coins, I can’t seem to help myself when I come across them
All of them are curved clips or an incomplete planchet error. The cent isn’t as curved as it was to close to the edge of another coin. As I said g to get are curved clips but there are also straight and ragged clips but you don’t have them. Here’s an example of a few of mine to help you understand incomplete planchets. A small clip but look at the third photo. The clip fits perfectly into the curve of another coin of the same type.
Thank you for the explanation and description. The pictures look very good and I like that the coin fits into another ( something I hadn’t thought of checking ) thanks again
Nice collection of clips, I think I will end up buying more if I come across them when out and about lol. The KHD is probably my favorite as I feel they are harder to come by due to the mint staff being able to spot errors easier on larger coins
