The 2008 Annual Uncirculated set has finally 'SOLD OUT'.

If you remember, this set contained the only SAE available for sale from the Mint throughout all of 2009.

Many have been wondering at how long the product has been on the market and when it would eventually sell out. Well there you have it!

Nice catch, they must've removed these after they repriced coins yesterday and ahead of tomorrows Kennedy halves rolls and bags release.

I read in my most recent Coin World that the Mint stopped minting the bullion 2009 ASEs in November 2009 (lack of demand) and began minting 2010 ASEs. They only went back to minting the 2009s after demand picked back up.

In fact, they have so many 2009 ASEs left over (51,000 I believe) that they are requiring their Distibutors to buy one 2009 ASE for every three (3) 2010 ASEs they buy until the surplus 2009 ASEs are sold. :goofer:

That, along with the apparent over supply of 2008 ASEs makes me wonder if the Mint REALLY couldn't produce 2009 proof ASEs due to "lack of sufficient stocks of blanks". Something seems a bit fishy here! :goof:

Wow! I just ordered this set this morning! I wonder if I bought the last one

I figured it was actually cheaper to buy this set than to try to buy the 2008-W ASE on eBay ... I wonder if I will get it?

I placed a post in Bullion section for 2007 W ASE under $22 DOLLARS. At APEX.

I ordered two about three weeks ago.
Got them in, and upon inspection, I returned one.
Two of the dollar coins looked like they were found in a parking lot.
The ASE had dents in several places.

The one I kept looks really nice.

I still would rather order from the US mint than from another source.

That's funny. I was looking at that set last night, but decided not to order it.

  12. The US Mint probably just reached a designated number (e.g., 100,000). I do not think there was a recent run on these. I bought late last year trying to get an ASE 2008 reverse 2007 but no luck. Still a great looking set though. TC

I bought 5 sets last year but haven't even tried to resell them since they were available on the mint site. But I will certainly try to in the near future.

I'm thinking of keeping the one I opened so I can have the W-2008 SAE.

This is the five-coin set with the ASE and the Prezzie dollars, right? I have noticed that the 2008 Satin Finish Mint Set as well as the 2008 Silver and Clad Proof Set prices have gotten a lot higher while my back was turned. Anybody have a good explanation? I know they contain the last Lincoln Memorial cents and low-mintage Kennedys, Prezzie dollars, etc, but am I missing something? I'm glad because I have a bunch of them! Thanks ...

The mint cut off availability of the 2008 Proof Sets
