I just stumbled upon this site while trying to find out more information on a coin I've had lying around for years. I believe it's Egyptian based on other coins I've seen with similar markings. If anyone has any idea what year, country, or type of coin this is, please help me out. Thanks!
The dates next to the eagle are 1973 (on the left) and 1393 on the right, and the denomination is "5". The eagle doesn't match those used by Yemen, Syria or Egypt, but the coin is definitely from an Islamic country. Knowing the size and metallic content might help in narrowing down the possibilities.
It looks really similar to the Afghanistan issues in my Krause, but I can find no match. Their coins had the same design in front of the eagle, but the eagle's wings pointed down, on most of them. Sorry I can't help!
