Hello everyone. This is my first post and was hoping I could get some of your collective knowledge. My wife and I found these three coins amongst some other things my wife received from her aunt. They were found in a box with a few other coins. We were hoping to find information on whether they are actual real coins or some type of replicas. Any help you can give is appreciated.
Welcome to CT @dawg3096. I am unfamiliar with these, but you may wish to post them under Ancient Coins as they appear to be hand stamped, indicating they are old coins, or maybe replicas as mentioned. I would suggest taking them to a local coin store and asking a knowledgeable person about them. Maybe @lordmarcovan could move this thread to the Ancient forum.
I know you're trying to be helpful but they aren't ancient coins guys. One of them even has a date on it - 1672, and another looks like it might be 1622. All 3 coins are supposed to be Spanish colonial coins. I cannot say one way or the other if they are genuine or not based on those pics alone as I don't have the books to look them up anymore. But if memory serves, the first one in the pics of 3, looks like it might be or supposed to be from the Lima mint in Peru - an 8 reales. The other 2 I can't say what mint. The 2nd looks to be another 8 reales, the 3rd I dunno. They could all 3 be cast copies or possibly sea salvaged given their look. Hopefully someone else who has the books or knows these coins from this time period well enough can help.
