Any experts on the Rhode Island Ship token of 1779? Real or fake?

    Per the Breen Encyclopedia the weights of some half dozen genuine specimens range from 8.36 to 10.96 for the heaviest one, General range is 8.56 to 8.91 grams. So your is about a gram and half more than the heaviest one listed and around 50% greater than the average weight. I would say it is almost certainly fake.

    I agree completely with all the responses, there is just so little info on these. Weight is generally a good judgement. Which weight is nowhere to be found, maybe they weren't very accurate to begin with. Definitely need to do some more research, but all the signs are leading me to a copy. Thank you everyone for your insight!
