CONECA called it master die doubling. The CPG will remove the coin from the next edition.

Isn’t every 1982 quarter a doubled die

Only 1969-S Lincoln cents. That reminds me, I haven't seen a new 1969-S DDO Lincoln Cent thread in a while.:)

I think one member posted about 50 of them. He gave up when folks started ignoring him.

So it's not just me? Because I have trouble seeing doubling most of the time and when I do it's usually MD, or the very obvious types. The devices on that quarter look just the same as any other, to me.

So it was a DDO?, but will not be next year?

Doubling is a long term learning thing. To make it more fun the minting process has changed over the years and so have the types of doubling.

I can live without a 1969-S doubled die.

I almost had one sold when I was dealer. I had a guy who gave me a want list, and I landed one for him within two weeks. I knew who had what in those days.

He ignored my email when I told him I had one. When I asked him later, he said he could not believe I had found one in under two weeks.

From that, it sounds like all of them have doubled devices. Therefore it's nothing unusual. I guess the doubled die has to be from a working die to qualify.

I’m thinking it is was considered an item meriting called a “cherrypick”, but is not now and won’t be included as such in their next edition. I looked it up at Wexler and NGC. BTW, a PF70 1982-S is listed valued at NGC for $100.00…if they are all produced from a MDO die, why the huge price disparity?…Spark

No, I think he thought that the coin was an "impossible rarity" that would never become available or would takes to locate. It isn't. Like most rarities, money and a little patience will yield results.
