Well, sort of. My wife gave me this last night. She was out shopping and she actually looked at her change. She said the clerk handed her her change and she looked at it I noticed that it was a Wheat Ear Cent. She even used the correct name and terminology. It’s only a common date well circulated 1946 Cent with dings, dents, scratches and a few rim bruises but hey, I’m impressed that she looked and used the correct names.
Mine is always taking change from the "don't take this change" jar... What's even worse is I have a "take this change instead" jar...
Yeah, I'm sure she's great, and I'm sure her brothers are too -- but not great enough to get me to switch teams.
I’m glad she’s learning but she still teases me about spending my collection at face value when I die. I’m 6 1/2 years older but I tell her I plan on outliving her. We both laugh.
That’s awesome. My family has some funny ones. my mom tries to remember but sometimes it’s frustrating explaining the same “basic” topics to her. She knows type 1 vs 2 buffalos, she knows (generally) about what’s silver, and she knows what a “BVD” 1909 cent is. She looks for W quarters as well. But she looks on every quarter so I’ve told her to just stop looking and let me do it considering she lets me check all of our change. My dad thinks I’m crazy for even collecting. He won’t say it but it’s evident. He hates that I look through his change. But I’ve found silvers. Mostly because dad doesn’t even look at what comes through before he dumps it. At least mom tries My pappy is hilarious with coins. He’s near 80 and just not the type to worry about such little things as dates on his pocket change. Well I went through his change bucket a couple months ago, and he had peace dollars in the jar he was going to take to the bank. Had no clue they were silver. It was a fun day for us both. I even found a 1972 doubled die. Not that he had any clue what that was. My memere hasn’t cashed in on change in at least a decade. Bin after bin is packed with change I’ve looked at since I started collecting and searching. She sometimes asks me if coins are errors. (They are newbie errors but I think it’s quite cute.)
You've got a goodun', @Collecting Nut! My wife doesn't check each coin, but she's very observant, and if she sees something "different", she saves it for me. But, even if she didn't, I'd keep her for other qualities she has! For some reason, she loves me (or, deserves an academy award if she doesn't, lol).
If my wife is unsure she always asks me. She’s a good gal and her mother loves me. I’m treated like one of her children.
