Why does the serial number end with “x”

    Ok,,,and??? Did you notice the condition of those web notes?

    Just a simple poor condition web note... mine has a fancy serial number, a misprint, and it’s also a high block serial number in AU condition ,,, did you notice that @oldhippster

    So my question to you is according to that chart the serial number, just the numbers not the letters, it should have been printed in January but the last letter indicates it was printed in September, why is that?

    The serial number AND the last letter go together. Sept 2014 is the print date for San Francisco FRN with serial numbers 76800001W and 12800000X

    Right but his serial number is L09096073X and the 0 at the beginning indicates it would be in January right? But then ends with an X indicating that it would be a September print. Also thank you for trying to help me understand.

    They are printed sequentially. In 9/14, the BEP started printing L76800001W. When they got to L96000000W, they started L00000001X until they quit at L12800001X. The note in the OP falls in that range of serial numbers
