Hi, there seems to be some info online about a variety of 1996 d penny that had a clad error with a super thin copper layer. Is that true? If so is this that?
Somebody took some sandpaper or other type of abrasive and ground off the copper plating. Damage, not an error BTW: zinc rot is when the zinc core starts to corrode similar to rust on your car. No zinc rot (yet), but exposed zinc isn't a good thing
It's better to give the last correct answer than the first wrong answer. Just something for precocious young numismatists to consider
