I have been concentrating on my lincolns and Morgans after I resurected my childhood collection. I always have known that I had all these jeffesons, but kind of ignored them. Well this Christmas I got a bunch of Intercept Shields, including the Jeff's. Put all my early stuff in there, did a bunch of roll searching for the recent stuff and guess what? I have a near completeb book that I am excited to look at. Granted it's not like some of the other sets, but it's just about complete and I love to look at the book. Long live the Jeff's. Kind of under rated it seems.
Ain't it just grand when you can do a thing like this? No, it won't look like your most recent finds and purchases. You pulled these coins from circulation in the days of your youth. Those coins will inhabit a special place....especially now that you've placed them in an album. I assembled a complete set of "Franklin's" from pocket change many years ago. Nothing can beat the satisfaction of completing a series of coins the good old "hard way". Hat's of to you my friend....
A complete set of Franklins from pocket change!!!!! What are ya a hundred years old Ken!?!?!?!?! LOL!
That's awesome that you were able to do that using coins saved from your youth. Sounds like you are enjoying them as well, which is what really matters. TC
I love the jeffs because you can put together a complete set in beautiful matched MS for very little money. There are no stoppers in the whole set.
That is very cool. I love sorting Jeffersons. My parents saved a bunch throughout the years, and now they are mine. Thanks to that and doing some roll searching on my own, I'm about 15 coins away from having every date and mint mark, maybe a little more as I don't have too many S mint issues. I've found even 38s and 39s in rolls in the past year.
Even the roll searching is more fun. I recently went through about 20 rolls and besides the current lot I needed, pulled out at least 10 pre 60 Jeffs. The current ones I was keeping were in darn good shape. I also recently searched about 30 rolls of lincolns and found only two wheats, but one was definetaly a keeper. There was also so much more crap in the lincolns. Stuff that should be taken out of circulation.
