Hi, today I ran across some postal currency. each one is has on the on the obverse "furnished only by the assistant treasurers" Receivable for postage stamps at any post office" They are in 3, 5, 10 & 25 cent denominations. Each one is about two inches across and maybe 1 1/4" high. Most are in very good condition. Any idea what they are worth?
Midas.. Fractionals can be tricky and many were counterfeited..post some images and lets see what you have. RickieB
Let me knowif i can help.. I have the reference books that explain everything in nice detail. Friedburg's 6th Edition of the United States Postage and Fractional Currency Encyclopedia. RickieB
Midas.. As you well know, condition is everything in numismatics (well almost everything) The notes are well worn and all have damage of some form to each note. The value will be not to great due to this. All of the notes you posted can be found in Choice Uncirculated Grades..if you did not pay too much for them then you have some examples to learn by. Fractionals are fascinating and can be a very tough project to collect if you really get into it. Good luck.. RickieB
