A storage unit, with security geared for protecting used furniture and toys: possibly not the best facility for storing your precious metals.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to grab my firearms and go camp out in my storage unit.

as opposed to a 300 pound safe that was robbed last month. I don't think that blaming the victim is constructive.

People need to be more creative about hiding spots. I'm confident that if I'm
Burglarized the odds of my pm being found are slim.

Just a note in case you want to protect against me burgling your stuff: dogs love me, but I'm super-allergic to cats, so yeah...

I thought hiding it where you store the leafs of your kitchen table was a great idea

that's funny, when I bought my house many years ago, after it was finalized the previous owner showed up and said he'd left something behind.
I'd bought some furniture off him in the house sale, (dining room table for up to 10, chairs and credenza and a couple other pieces of furniture, and talked him down $10K on the price to boot to close in under 30 days), the sale was written as everything under roof was mine after closing with the property.
So of course I asked him what it was and where, he took a second and said, "my coin collection, it's in the table leaf box in the closet can I please have it, I forgot it was there?"

So I let him get it, all tucked away in a crown royal bag, bottom of the table leaf box. No idea what he had in there, he got his bag thanked me and left, I only talked to him a couple times prior, about the house for the sale. '
And yeah, technically I didn't have to let him, everything under the roof belonged to me after closing but ya know, karma and stuff seemed like the right thing to do.

I'm going to get a picture of my cat and post it in my house. Do you think that would help?

So how did the perpetrators know that the gold and silver was there? "Loose lips sink ships" apparently. Owner might want to investigate supposed friends who knew where to look.

    Nice report from NCIC

Didn't you say that NCIC was "....not adequate, obviously"? Do you still feel that way or do you think they can are good enough to be included as a resource?
