1901 Morgan Hard in higher grades

I bid on ebay and got this for $40. What am I missing? Why didn't anyone else want this?

Why a second thread?it looks suspicious to me the dark grainy cleaned appearance,I would grade it vf details.

 

I got rid of the whoopsy duplicate thread.

 

Looks fine to me.
Besides that color. suspect to me.

 

I would say it's off color.

 

I agree with the others. It looks like it’s got a layer of artificial toning.

The 1901 dollar is scarce in true Unc., and very scarce in attractive Mint State. There is nothing scarce about it in the circulated grades.

 

Not too appealing for $40

 

A common coin in lower grades but difficult to find in the higher grades. Dark toning makes it unattractive.

 

The tone makes it look fake. As a bidder I would shy away from it. That's just me though. If you like it that's all that matters!

 

Poor surface preservation impacts eye appeal negatively. I’m not sure how to grade this…imo…Spark

 

The photograph has too much blue . Look at the inner ring of the 2x2 holder. it should be a dark color, but has a faint blue color. Jim
