Can anyone tell me where the 1898 East Africa Protectorate pice was minted. I can't locate a mintmark on mine, but my eyes aren't what they used to be. That brings up second query: Is it official that the mountain behind the lion of E.A. shillings etc. is Kilimanjaro? Looks more like Mt. Kenya to me, but maybe it's the perspective. All help appreciated, thanks.

Got the second answer from a govt. source: It is indeed Kiliminjaro, just not from the usual angle (which shows the flat volcano top) Still wondering where the 1898 EAP pice was minted, and for that matter, the 1907 EAP&U ten centi. Birmingham? Any help would be appreciated.

There is no mintmark on the Pice. According to J.Remick (The Guide Book and Catalogue of British Commonwealth Coins) East Africa coins without a mintmark come out of the Royal mint in London. The same goes for the 10 Cents 1907. Birminham mint coins bear an H mintmark.
