These were recent gifts from my neighbors that just returned from visiting South America.

During the Second World War my dad was in the Army and stationed in Brazil. When he passed on in 1995 the currency he saved from that time came to me.

Inflation is so sad for the victims. I always wonder what people even do when their entire cash life savings goes from a solid retirement to a soda pop in virtually an instant.

Visions of post World War 1 Germany and other European countries; Venezuela when the socialists took total control; Cuba after the Castro revolution; and the list grows longer and longer.

Which IMO is why people who keep most of their nest egg in dollar-denominated assets might be disappointed at some point.

A few Mexican banknotes for your enjoyment: (hmmm, probably not true Central America however, but still nice specimens)

How about a Brasil note instead of a Brazil note:
Oh, it's also a replacement note: (or a star note) rpl_Brasil_10000cruz-10Cruzados_star0005023465A_face.jpg

Las Mariposas ~ The Butterflies - the Mirabel sisters were Dominican patriots that protested the brutal dictatorship of President Duarte in the Dominican Republic in the 1950s. They were murdered by the regime and are remembered on this note.
