Elaine, let's see how things turned out from your prediction dated 07/22/09: Currently figured to be around 44,468 (+/-) NO (W) produced. However, AGE unc bullion figures 1,256,000 (+/-) NO (W) or proof fractional AGEs produced. However, AGE unc bullion fractional mintage figures: Half ounce AGE (0.50) 110,000 (+/-) Quarter ounce AGE (0.25) 110,000 (+/-) Tenth ounce AGE (0.10) 270,000 (+/-) No reason given. Assuming this meant gold AGE proof and reasoning would be due to potential high mintage projection based on prior years performance. At any rate, NO proof 1 oz. AGE produced. 2009 mint unc set - 695,942 2009 silver proof set - 650,4532009 clad proof set - 1,425,136 as of 1/20/2010 True, A sell out product! However, this wasn't much of a 'prediction' as the limited mintage of 50,000 sets was announced prior to release and collectors loved the anniversary year One Cent coins (new designs), a lot of US Mint marketing behind Lincoln coinage this year, agreeable packaging...) Neither the best nor a winner, neither were produced. Ouch! The reasons / secret = subjective guessing :secret: No one foresaw the US Mint pulling the rug out from under us by not producing many of the beloved and collected annual precious metals coins cited above. Ouch!!! :crying: Please feel free to cite correct mintage figures if they have changed. Better luck in the year ahead gang. :thumb: US Mint 2010 Scheduled Product Listing PS: Anyone speculating on what mintage numbers will be for the initial National Parks 5 oz. silver coins releasing in 2010? I believe if I understood correctly, the coin legislation states these coins will be available for dealers to order in increments of 1000 pieces. How about estimated figures for the other National Parks / America the Beautiful Quarters program coinage?
I asked this question on another thread but nobody seems to know for sure. I am expecting/hoping that the 5 ounce silver versions will have a very low mintage (under 10K). Just a hunch based on mintages of other large bullion coins (Libertad, Kookaburra, etc.). TC
2010 Kennedy Halves go on sale from US Mint 01/29/2010 Tomorrow January 29th at noon (ET) the 2010 Kennedy Half Dollar Two-Roll Sets (KO2) and Kennedy Half Dollar 200 Coin Bag (KO1) products go on sale.

mint should have melted all the unwanted susan anthony, sacagawea and presidential dollars. the mint sell 2001 sacagawea to collectors. then the collectors pick up whatever they want and deposit it back to the federal reserve banks via our banks. what a silly the mint did?. 800 million unwanted dollars. melt it down and recycle it. produce limited future presidential dollars by using those melted down.

As funding permits, I will order my two roll set. For some reason I love these. I would like to see these produced in 90% silver, since they are not released for circulation anyway.
Y-E-S! :hail: I have wanted the same thing! US Mint please produce rolls of silver Kennedy Halves!!! I love the large halves. I don't collect modern clad coins from the Mint but I do buy these Kennedy half dollar rolls. I refuse to buy the entire Silver Proof set just for the Silver Half and I am at odds with the inflated prices of buying the modern silver halves in slabs. I really wish they would produce these Kennedy rolls in 90% silver! Plus these wouldn't be proof rolls, they should be unc 90%. I'd plunk down the money on such a product and pay the Mint premium, but I sure bet that each roll would be steep from the Mint, esp given that they are $32.95 for $10 worth of coin in clad currently, ouch! In silver they may list as much (or more) than a 20 count roll of unc ASEs from a bullion dealer.
Oddly, I for some reason buy the silver proof set every year since my daughter was born in 2007. It might be a nice graduation present or something to that nature. I hope to get her into coin collecting in a few years, and this would add to her enjoyment down the road. I do agree though, the premium is kind of steep for most folks on the silver proof sets in recent years.
