I just got an email from the mint saying my order for Morgan(O) coins which was previously confirmed and was within the family order limit has been cancelled. No explanation - only the customer service phone number and it is impossible to get through. I'm in my 80s and have been buying from the mint since the 1950s. I'm about to stop for good in disgust.

Is there a chance that your credit card info has changed between the time you ordered and the time they finally got around to processing it?

If your cc information has changed since you first ordered the coin they should send you an e-mail telling you to contact them once it enters into processing status. Did you check to see if you recieved an e-mail? They should give you 48 hours to reply to the e-mail and the coin will have a credit hold on it if that is the case. Right now the customer service is pretty busy but if you call your wait in line can take up to an hour. I would call them with the order number and ask them why the cancelation. I just might be a mistake on their end.

Thanks for that thought Sting 60. Mine expired last month and now it's changed. However, it would be nice if the Mint's customer service would ask if the customer had alternate payment when this occurs. Especially on extended pre-order sales. Then again, that involves some thinking.

My sister had the same issue. You just keep calling back and eventually they'll ask if you want to be added to their "we'll call you back" list. They always do call back and then the issue can be resolved. Her CC was being declined for an unknown reason so she just had to provide another card.

I received an email from the US Mint on 10/8/2021 (Friday) indicating that my August order for 3 proof ASEs couldn't be fulfilled "at this time" (???) and that my order would be cancelled unless I called their customer service within 48 hours (which would correspond to trying to call them over the weekend ... good luck with that). I tried calling on that same day, and couldn't even get connected with anyone at the US Mint customer service. So, I sent an email reply saying that I did not want the US Mint to cancel my order and to press ahead with fulfilling it. I just received confirmation that the order has been shipped and my credit card has been charged for the purchase price. Bottom line: If you get one of those emails from the US Mint about cancelling your order within 48 hours unless you "call", reply by email indicating that you do not want the order cancelled. Otherwise, you're giving them an "out" on not fulfilling your order. My guess is that they accepted orders exceeding their supply.

Just a continuation to my prior post -- US Mint indicates they're processing my orders for the 2021 Morgan and Peace dollars -- my credit card has just been charged for those purchases. I have not received any US Mint emails indicating that those orders would be cancelled.

Yes, it is a hit and miss. I didn't get an e-mail for my O's today but saw them in processing. I knew that the cc for this order changed so I called CS and waited for about 50 minutes but finally got threw. I told them that I believe that there was a credit hold on my order and they looked the order up and said yes it was and did I want to reprocess the order under a different card. I agreed and my card got charged about 10 minutes after I got off the phone.

I like everyone else am getting turned off by this Government Agency that is making a profit and can't improve and give better customer experience. With all the cancelled sales, where does that product go? Maybe that should be a question I ask to everyone.

I had 2 ASE W-Proof coins on my subscription. I wanted 3, but it was too late to change. So I took a chance and went thru the order procedure for the third...with little difficulty I managed to get my 3rd coin. The 2 subscription coins shipped, but the 3rd was "on backorder". A couple weeks later I called about it and just asked if it was gonna be fulfilled or not (I can use the $73 elsewhere). They told me it was a valid order. On Sep 30th I got an email saying it was shipped and my card was charged. Anyone know if the mint struck additional coins...or did just one that was never paid for or something like that?

After the last Morgan fiasco in August I decided to forgo buying from the mint in the future. After several dozen failures at check out, the coins were sold out. A couple times during the process I was tagged as a bot. I may be old and ugly, but I'm not a bot.

As far as I'm concerned we have no mint. I gave up two years ago, tired of their bull-crap and lack of customer relations.

I find it hard to believe that people will stop doing business with the Mint unless the really want something and they want to order it by a vendor for 3 to 4 times what the cost is by the Mint. I watch the shows on TV that sell coins and their cost is 3 to 4 times the cost from the Mint. Sometimes the aggravation of dealing with the Mint is worth it versus the cost to buy from a coin vendor.

Jim Dale, you are absolutely right, with the exception of letting the sales by dealers go on for a while. The sales will drop and so will the prices. All we have to do is be patient and temporarily show a lack of interest.

When their website prevents someone from ordering a product they want what's the use? Yes, I could still get the usual mint and proof sets but why settle for the dregs when others are able to get the limited items? I believe my issues with these "hot" items is my location in a very rural area with limited internet capability.

It's just luck and persistence. You win some you lose some. The thing that a lot of people always forget and I will always mention is that if the website worked perfectly these limited things would sell out in seconds. The only reason a lot of the truly hot items last as long as they do giving people more of a chance is the site crashing slowing down orders.

These problems with dealing with the mint are why I quit buying from them. Yes, you may pay a dealer premium down the road, but usually that coin is now graded and slabbed, so you break even.

But that's my issue with all of this. There should be a better way to handle this. A more fair way that wouldn't tax the system for 30 minutes and require most people to retry over and over again until they either score or lose would be to use a lottery system. Over several weeks, let people who are interested log in and register for a chance to get a limited issue item. At the time of issue, the mint could randomly select from those who registered. That seems more fair to me. Like I said in my post, my internet bandwidth is limited and I am certain that it plays a role in the issues I've had.

Then everyone will complain they selected the winners. No matter what the high demand issues will generate complaints. Everyone wants the best of the best issues to somehow be limited but also that they get it.

Itd actually be less fair. That just random luck you have no control over. You have control over how much you try now, if everyone could get everything at will no one would care about it.
