Just received my mint purchase of the 2021 limited edition silver proof set and repackaged it right back up and it's going to be returned tomorrow. The type 2 Silver Eagle has a gouge in the wing. How does this happen with a proof coin? Also the mint box is total junk. Count me as another very dissatisfied customer of the u.s. mint. I need these coins for my sets but I guess I'll buy them on the secondary Market.
Didn't even think of taking a photo I was so irked I just repackaged it. Now I am out the money for the return. Thanks a lot u.s. mint you've lost another customer.
Most frustrating when something like this happens. I can understand your 'ire', but rejoice. You can send it back for a replacement. And this issue is not a limited edition one, so if you send it back I'm quite sure that the replacement will be of better quality. Pity you didn't do photogs. We'd have all liked to chew on that bone. Quite sure the mint gets it right most of the time. That's been my experience mostly....had to send three out of four Kennedys back in 2014, but that was my only bad hat.
Just checking one thing. I noticed a "gouge" also, but then I see the same thing on the BU, Proofs, and Reverse Proofs too. The photo below shows the location. Is yours at the same spot? In the photo, it looks okay but in real life, it does look like a gouge.
You would think but no. The label that you get is nothing more than your address and the Fulfillment centers address and then the form suggests that you insure it for your protection. Pretty tacky for the largest coin dealer in the country. Many eBay dealers provide free returns.
Interesting. That is it. So it clearly is part of the coins design. However it looks like a flaw to me and I'll never be able to unsee it.
I know what you mean. My close-up shot doesn't show it well, but it really DOES look like a gouch in real life. It's part of the design though.
You sound like my daughter (years past), when I caught here 'rustling' cookies. "Don't see me daddy"..........
