I stopped at a coin shop yesterday and came home with some neat stuff. Here are some of the highlights. First some lovely coins from Mexico.
Staying in the Americas is this selection. I like the early Colombia and Peru issues, and there's a few others here I've never seen before.
Some more non-European. The British Guiana 4 pence is in great condition. Actually a lot of these are.
Finally, some British and related coins and token. I thought the 1660 Bristol farthing was very interesting, and I love the 2 Gibraltar coins.
You did very good. Those Cuban 40 centavos are great and quite rare in that original shape. I want your Ethiopian coin. Amazing grade. PM me lol.
I love the Cuban coins but the trouble with buying them is they're not allowed on eBay so it's hard to figure out the true value. I think I'll hold on to the Ethiopian unless I find out I have a similar one already. It happens sometimes.
Here's another one I just scanned. It's a locally issued emergency token for 5 centimes from Bayonne, France in 1917. Probably one of the crudest coins I've seen from the modern era.
I have a couple of threepence coins from the Birmingham Workhouse - they are monster sized pieces. And curiously Boulton's mint struck patterns for a sixpence in bronze that weighed over 5 ounces.
