Hello everyone, As some of you know I was on Vacation in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I returned the day before Columbus Day. I had the day off so I did a quick Metal Detecting trip at a local park and a 6 hour hunt yesterday at Prospect Park & Mount Prospect Park (Both different parks) These were my finds.. Silver #81 and #82 for 2021 1943 S Silver War Nickel - Lamination Crack on Reverse side! 1946 Silver Roosevelt Dime 13 Wheat Cents Pendant - Employee of the month 2 Canadian Cents Everything
On my first trip I found this cool vintage US Marine Corps tie clip And another vintage NYC Subway Token Misc Pics I purchased new headphones
I almost forgot.. I found this little bell. Probably from a pet's leash. And these 2 coins on my subway train ride home.
Welcome back, you got employee of the month I've never been employee of the month. Not bad for being on vacation half the month.
I won employee of the year in Supply Chain Management 2 years in a row when I worked at NYU Medical Center. I received 2 certificates and 2 $50.00 savings bonds.
I love bells .... Found these beauties myself . Thanks for sharing and the memories of finding them .
I was declared "Employee with the most Career Limiting Comments" at my last job. But, they kept me around for 25 years.
I don't know how close a Marine Base is to you, but I bet they would pay you for the tie clip. They can probably tell you something about it. At least, I think they should. Nice trip and collection.
Ya just couldn't wait to get home and metal detect, could you? Barely a word about your trip, but, "Oh boy, I went metal detecting." Now that's dedication. LOL
Nice MDing finds. Yesterday I was hunting a new permission in NE Florida. House built in the 30s. Nice coin spill: 4 quarters, 3 dimes, a nickel (all modern) and 3 wheats (50s). Found a nice copper buckle. And then I pulled out THIS!!! It’s a scabbard! It was covered in clay and I hoped it was silver and maybe Civil War era. But a little scrubbing soon disproved that idea. I posted pictures on a few sites and soon the mystery was solved. It’s a Type II, WWII, Luftwaffe Officer’s Dress Scabbard, circa 1937. It was near a heavy thicket of trees but the dagger may be buried nearby. I’d like to find or buy the appropriate dagger but the few people I met who have one were more interested in buying the scabbard than selling the dagger. Been offered some nice bucks for it but I never sell my finds. no doubt a war souvenir(unless we were invaded and nobody knew) .
I’ve looked over the last two or three I think over the last few months since joining, I would love to find some of the things you do but unsure of where to go in Michigan to be honest, was thinking along the Huron river would be a good place to start. My nephew is coming to visit for thanksgiving and got a metal detector for his 9th birthday so I’m placing some of my coin roll finds in the woods near my house for him to stumble upon when he’s here ( hoping this will get him more interested in the hobby once he’s found a few nice looking coins with some small value as it’s like finding treasure lol ) if you know any good areas to go around Michigan I would be grateful for any suggestions
I don’t know any places in Michigan (send him to Florida) but one of my favorite places to hunt are curb strips, the area between the sidewalk and street. In most areas it’s a public access zone and he can hunt. BUT make sure he knows how to properly dig a target so that he leaves no signs of having been there. But I have found tons of coins, jewelry and relics in those areas.
