Very pretty coin. I am not the expert at all; that being a given I would either give an MS 66 or 67. There, now I have probably hung myself.
I can’t grade it: it looks nearly perfect. Has that aged glow we all crave. If NGC says "cleaned" tell them I said to go jump in a lake
I like it. If there's any wear one would have to be really nitpicking to find it. It looks like it gems to me.
Gorgeous…worth $4K at 66RB…(from NGC Price Guide)… Anyone would be proud to own this coin. Great eye appeal, lovely toning.
Wow, what a beauty!!! A gem, it would be the keynote piece of my collection for sure. I'd go MS-66, even 67 wouldn't surprise me. From the two photos I can't find a trace of criticism, wear, or fault.
I'd be at MS 66. Not a 67. However, the way some of these get graded they may have given it a MS 65. However, for a 1909-S it has a great strike. If it was offered to me at the right price I'd grab it. Very nice...
66-RB is my grade but I confess to being a bit conservative. With modern grading, I can see it as a 66RB with CAC or as a 67 RB with no bean. This coin is a real gem. Just one small nick on the chin and a couple of small dents on the obverse legend. A small reverse rim ding at K10 and some very small knocks between K10 and 12. Luster is lovely with some small patches of colorful toning that are all enhancing rather than detracting. It is close to the upper boundary between RB and Red but I think it's just shy of Red. Now, having said all that and while admitting no expertise on this matter, I am just a little suspicious of the S mintmark. It appears in the correct place but the lower serif looks a little larger and "clubbier" than the pictures I've seen of the real MM. I can't find a counterfeit match for this coin's MM in Snow but that doesn't prove anything.
