The past several months have been playing HAVOC on our nerves and thoughts. At first, I had fun with my father's coins that I got. I read up on the coins on how to take care of them and to sort them. However, after a while, I became bored with those coins, so I contacted a coin dealer to get a little head start on "my" collection. He took a great deal of time telling me how to keep a record of my coins and to begin with putting the coins in 2X2 coin holders as well as teaching me how to handle my coins as well as a lot of other things, i.e., The Red Book. I have every Red Book from 2010 to 2022. They have been highlighted and notes taken as well as keeping a record. My next step was to organize my coins and then decide if I was going to be a collector or just file away my coins so my daughter can have them one day. I went to a show with the coin dealer and he helped me start putting together my collection. I even bought some things there, but then I found out about the U.S. Mint. That was a mistake, because I fell in love with those sparkly, beautiful coins that the Mint was selling and I discovered the American Silver Eagles. The dealer, who is now a good friend, told me that I needed to keep a record of them, which I did, which included many coins, Gold ones, Silver ones, and many others. All was going well until this year.
It started well, until I found about the change in the Reverse of the ASEs. I also learned how badly the Mint takes care of purchases. Although I have only been collecting for a few years and buying from the Mint since about 2016.
This year has been horrible year buying from the Mint. When Commemoratives were purchased, they were either "Processing" or "Backlogged". My first purchase of the commemorative Morgan dollars and the Peace dollar, the Reverse Proof ASE Silver coins took forever to be delivered. There were the Morgan Commems and the Peace Commem, many of which were purchased the first of August and they are still backlogged or "Processing." It hasn't deterred my coin collecting, just changing who I buy coins from and which ones would be "to die for."
Anyway, I for one want the coins I"purchased"
I hope many of you are doing better than I have. May the Force Be With Us in our collection.

While I am not a fan of current mint practices I think there may be a piece of this puzzle that you are missing. I can't speak to the ASE's, I can say that the Morgans and Peace dollars were a pre-order type affair. They won't ship anyone the Peace dollars until November if I remember correctly. If you got your order in then the mint has it and they won't charge your card for it until it ships.

I'm just going to say, the mint isn't the only business with a supply chain or labor problem. that's not "normal" and I hope it passes quickly, however it's be ongoing to some extent for nearly 2 years now, and I won't say why, because that topic is a no-no on the site, just saying "conditions" are all kinds of screwed up for the last couple years and it has an effect, and it's usually the customer complaining.

So I get people complaining at me, in turn I complain to the distributor or freight forwarder, they complain to the manufacturer, and it goes nowhere, and I bang my head over and over because it's so damn hard nowadays to spend $100 or $100K, NOBODY is in a hurry regardless of how easy, or how much can be made,,,, or wants to hustle anymore regardless of the margin they make.

it's falling apart I think. people need to wake up and get their act together. these last 2 years turned most folks into zombies, and I mean like SLOW, not necessarily mindless, Slow, like they can't make a decision or something.

The mint has their share of problems also I ain't gonna lie, not all of it is their incompetence though, a whole lot is everyone else in the supply chain that can't get things right and smooth anymore.

END RANT. MTFBWY also! Yoda says it best "Do…or do not. There is no try."

everyone is trying now a days and winds up not doing.

I understand about the Morgans. I knew up front that the Morgans and the Peace would not be shipped until October. And now you are saying November? Do you have some inside information or is that just a guess.
I have had my two purchases of gold coins (Anerican Liberty and the AGE) in since the first of September. The American Liberty has been "Processing" since September 5 and the AGE Unc only since the first of October. I guess I am comparing them to companies that make profits. I placed an order with Amazon on Wednesday and got it on Thursday.

Sorry…. not buying the ‘everyone has had issues with shipping’ (or labor) excuse. It’s not like they’re sitting off-shore (and federal employees haven’t gone anywhere- they never do, even when they screw the pooch as they’ve done of late).

It may very well be October. I don’t remember. I just expect to be surprised the day I pull mine out of the mailbox.

That's fine, you really don't have to buy it. I'm the one dealing with it daily though from vendors all over the U.S. and freight companies that can't move things in a timely manner, no sector is untouchable if it relies on warehousing and transportation currently. The distribution hubs aren't federal jobs, it's a regular warehousing/order fulfillment gig. I'm not making excuses for them, it is what it is, they can make whatever excuses they want to for it.

The Morgan and Peace Dollars were supposed to be mid october, which it is now, but I know they are running well behind schedule at the distribution hubs for items they have on hand, I was well into 3 weeks to get the two coin reverse proof silver eagle set marked shipped, with 5 days waiting for USPS to collect it from there.
So those Morgan and Peace dollars being delayed another couple weeks into November wouldn't surprise me.

JMHO, I think the "pre-sale" thing was a really dumb idea to begin with.

They aren't commemoratives even though some people call them that.

October was the estimation months ago when they were sold, but November does seem more likely now.

That's exactly what it is, but for the sake of argument the Mint is one part of the puzzle. They have to get supplies and packaging which has supply/labor issues, then they have to make them, then they have to ship them to the shipping company who also has labor issues etc etc.

Labor, supplies, and shipping are absolutely the reasons. They're not sitting there saying we dont want to make 10s of millions of dollars right now that can wait till we feel like doing work

Again, we’re not talking about items sitting off-shore. These are domestic products (i.e precious metals, supplies, etc) and the USPS and UPS (i.e. preferred shipping companies of US Mint) have been largely operating since the beginning of the pandemic without abnormal delay. The US Mint has processed and shipped (with the same suppliers, and shippers) many, many more products since the beginning of the pandemic.

No one is saying, ‘they don’t want to work or make money’ (in fact, my point is that they are indeed working, and making money). Or, that other vendors and shippers aren’t experiencing problems. But, it’s a stretch to string together simple correlation which does NOT exist within the federal government.

I’ll wait. I knew I’d wait. Otherwise, I don’t care what their excuse is. But, they’ve offered no accountability or integrity in the process. And the reasoning here is similarly suspect.

You think they're making their own packaging?

That's just not correct either. Shipping has been incredibly delayed in many areas and the mint ships through a company. They also have been having issues with their supply of blanks from their suppliers, ore doesnt get shipped to the mint to be refined in house

I just hope the bloody things (Morgans/Peace) don't all ship at once. I've got three separate orders and was hoping to stagger the payments.

So, you make a statement that I do not make, ie. “they're making their own packaging?”. Then, you suggest that I am wrong to make such a statement.

Next, ya double-down on misleading and/or false statements, i. e. “They also have been having issues with their supply of blanks from their suppliers.” The US Mint has not experienced any delay in the provision of precious metals or blanks for the Morgan and Peace orders (they had, in hand, a committed supply long ago).

So, whatever their delay…. let’s not blame it on the pandemic, and/or related supply and shipping just because supply and shipping delays have been observed elsewhere. It’s like saying you don’t know what you’re talking about because the schools have been shut down for the last 2 years, i.e. the schools have been largely shut down, but that’s no excuse for your being wrong.

So, let’s just agree to disagree that you’re argument is simply lacking in knowledge and/or reason.

My friends. I apologize for opening a can of worms. Many of us have purchased the Morgan and Peace Commemorative coins and were told in the heading of those coins that they would be available for delivery in October. As of today, there are 16 days left in October. It has been said that they would be delivered or available to be delivered in November. Hopefully, we will be able to get them sometime in the near future.
Has anyone read or heard about the delivery time of the last One Ounce Gold coins?

Apparently the Morgans a peace dollars are now moving from backorder to processing, and peoples cards are being charged. That should mean they should be in the mail very soon.
From what I have seen in other threads it looks like they are going to be shipped if not at the same time them pretty close together.

When purchasing the P morgans and Peace there was a note in red at checkout that they expected these to ship Nov. 15th.
