I am a dealer and I paid more than 40% of the retail price I would list them at,
so what are you talking about? I think you are misunderstanding my post

"well for a fact I just bought a collection at a show that was brought to me I paid much much more than 40% of the retail perhaps if you were bringing low quality material or just slow moving types, the offer would be low like that.
I just know a statement like that is false by experience."

This is your post I was answering. So you (as a dealer) paid more than 40% what would this have to do with what another dealer paid for them.

It can’t hurt to try :).

But I think people would want references and I don’t have any since I’ve never sold on here before.

I am going to venture a guess and say you have some sort of beef with coin dealers in general. I also remember you including my name in a thread of ebay dealers that are not good guys and as I recall you had zero to back up the claim.

You're overthinking it. List the coins for sale for the price you want to sell them for, list your payment and shipping options, and, in general, coins sell if the price is decent. Sometimes with a seller I am not so sure about I'll ask for the option to use regular paypal(instead of friends and family) and pay the 3% fee for buyer protection, but it's really not too complicated. I always just offer USPS first class shipping at cost(it's around $3 these days) and payment by Paypal Friends and Family, or the buyer can pay 3% more for regular PayPal. I have probably sold 200+ coins this way over the past 5 years, a number of those before I had any sort of reputation.

Absolutely not, I never met a coin dealer that I didn't like. I merely pointed out that your posting had little to do with what other dealers paid. If I mentioned you in error, I apologized to several people and don't remember if you were one of them. Many of the dealers names were suggested by other CT members.

perhaps what you meant to say my post has nothing to do with what other dealers would be willing to pay? you said paid which is confusing

That’s a fair point. I’ll try here and if I don’t have any luck I guess I can always try EBay.

I know I won’t get what I paid and I never expected too I just don’t want to lose more than 40-50%.

That is utterly astonishing considering the volume of high grade Athens tets in the market! Good for you! Sell that puppy and buy an even better one for less and buy that Tiberius you're eyeing.

Can anyone here show a mass emission era Athens tet that wasn't struck with high relief dies?

If you love love love the coin, that's wonderful. Enjoy :). But I sure would be tempted to take that offer.

Well I mean I’ve looked at other listings of Athenian tets on HA and mine is one of very few that is listed as being struck with high relief dies.

I even looked closer and you can see that the owl on mine does rise up higher above the flan than usual.

However even so I do love this coin and I couldn’t bear to sell it and settle for a worse looking tet.

In fact I think my tetradrachm would be the last coin I sold out of my entire collection because I love it so much xD

But I will get Tiberius! I might have to save a bit longer but I will get it!
