    Hi guys,

    I have this 1945 P Lincoln Wheat Penny and would like to know if this considered a Lamination crack on the Obverse running through Lincoln's head?

    I can't be sure. It has the appearance of one, but then when you look at where it meets the N I have a doubt. The N has been completely mangled as if from a heavy hit. Wait for some others

    Not sure either but looks like something like drill bit skipped across the surface making a mark. Maybe it was used in a fuse box and this might be the result of arcing. As a die crack it does not appear to be consistent in it's raised path. There is also a blackness running along with it that might be carbon.

    I believe it may be a lamination.

    It is either a lamination or a die crack.

    It can't be both

    Here's a close up photo. Maybe this will help in determining what is going on.

    I'm going with damaged what @tommyc03 said.One of thousands of different ways it can happen.

    My first gut impression was, "Yes," it was a lamination, but upon closer examination and reading others comments, I'm not sure now.
    @JCro57, @paddyman98, @Fred Weinberg, others?

    The "N" certainly appears to be damaged by whatever the anomaly is that appears to have been dragged across the coin.

    Still a little blurry but I can now see damage to the N. Not sure about the I as it’s not clear enough. From what I can see from the back of Lincoln’s head to the N, it appears to be damage. There are several spots that show raised metal in a clump. If that’s the case along the area in question, then I think it’s been damaged.
