Recently found this specimen of the 25c FS101 doubled die obverse, in a 1962 Philadelphia mint set. Interestingly it was struck with a Type B reverse FS.901 This may be an amateur sort of inquiry into something relatively insignificant, but I digress - Would this variety being paired with a Type B reverse be significant enough to warrant any additional premium?
The obverse looks to match VV DDO 004 (FS 101), whether the reverse was struck as a proof reverse (Type B), I will have to let others offer that level of expertise. You will need better images to decipher the die stage, A, B or C.
You didn't say if it was from a OGP mint set, or one assembled piecemeal...reason is that it's taken some decent dings on the reverse at some point that may hold it back from higher grade and value. I know as a collector of the Type-B, unless a 65 or higher, most Type-B years aren't worth all that much. I don't know where the FS101 factors in to all that, but it is definitely a Type-B.
It is a mint set specimen and has never been removed from the case. I am a member of PCGS and was considering sending it in for grading, but I will take better photos and have some of you guys tell me what you all think about it. I am not stressing it though, because I have accumulated so many other specimens that are already on my list to send in.
