This is a rare Civil War Store Card from Grand Rapids, Mich. by Foster and Metcalf. It has rarity rating of 8. It also has bold strike and is in AU condition. Dated 1861, they were workers in various metals, especially in plumbing and gas fittings.
In the 1800s, using etc. more than once was to denote more than 2 services, was more prevalent than it is now. Still used in some advertising and documents today. sort of saying so on and so on, or blah, blah, blah.
etc, etc, etc... I think that might source to The Chocolate Factory Of coarse, Roald Dahl proved to be a controversial character himself, and his coin was canceled because of his virulent antisemitism.
Cool find! You say this one's an R-8. What's the Fuld #? Does it appear to be more brass or copper? The two metals can be confused on certain issues, and this piece walks that line.
Thanks, I’m not sure of the Fuld number. Also not sure of the correct metal content. I purchased from a very reputable dealer and I used the information that was provide with the token. I have been dealing with this dealer for over 10 years and never had a problem.
