Gave my Avatar coin a Botox shot........I think it looks much better in an MS64+, just shy of the single highest graded (MS65) coin. The toning is also not unpleasant and highlights the details IMHO. Auctioneer's Description: "George V. AR Crown. 1934. Fourth coinage. 'Wreath' type. ESC 374; SCBC 4036. A superb specimen. Exceptionally well struck with a prooflike quality. Lightly toned with much underlying brilliance. Very rare, graded MS 64+. From the Mildenhall Collection. Purchased Spink, January 2001. Tied for second highest graded by NGC. Only one specimen graded higher." Mintage of 932
I think, without meaning to offend any Welsh members here, after Edward I conquered Wales and conducted his campaigns against the Scots, Wales was regarded as an extended territory of England. Henry VIII passed laws and Acts of Union which applied equally to England and Wales. Welsh representatives had to be able to speak English and although Welsh as a language is probably more widely spoken than the other Gaelic languages within the UK, Wales began to be considered an integral part of England (often referred to as England and Wales). I suppose that is why the Prince of Wales is the heir to the throne of England (and the UK). Then again I could be totally wrong and all or most of what I've said above might be a load of codswallop to be disregarded.
Thank you Sir, the only problem is that then I'd have to change my name....and still someone would call it a fake
Excellent acquisition ! For now I have to be content with my 1935 jubilee example Would love a wreath crown though, any year Q
Thank you Q. There was a very high grade 1935 Raised Edge proof in the same auction but I was more interested in the 1934. You should try to find a nice 1927 in proof. They are attractive coins and generally they don't break the bank
