....it may also help if there were ads run in newspapers and radio and TV, too!

the public simply isn't aware of these coins and the government is ridiculously

naive in their thinking! finished with rant.

....they should take them! just tell them that they should be willing to share in helping

to circulate these 'products' of their and our government.

    Spending coins

I have been roll searching halves for about 2 years some good days some not... I do try and spend a portion of them. I generally get entertainment value from the process. I've heard everything to what are these? or don't see these very often . I 've been givin change for dollars and (made it right with them explaining they are not dollars) I find most time they are not put in till and laid on top to be bought back later.. I have two post office employees who save them for grand kids and one lady at a gas station where I spend a few each day who said if i keep bringing these in I'm going to break her bank....The most I've ever spent is $20.00 + at walmart ... I prefessed the event by letting her know we would try this the hard way "she chuckled". If your courteous and don't pick a busy line or try to use slower time of day and don't abuse the process You can not only spend alot of the coins but also educate people a little about coins during the excahnge and share the hobby with someone else..

I once paid for $25 worth of stamps in quarters, dime, and nickel rolls. The cashier looked at me a little funny, but then shrugged it off and smiled. :p

I spend dollar coins in every cash transaction

I always spend dollar coins, usually up to seven or eight in any one transaction. I probably spend about $125 a week in dollar coins.

I also try to spend dollar coins in every cash transaction

I get 1% cash back on credit card purchased, so I charge every single thing I can. When I must spend cash, I always try to spend dollar coins.

The only thing of significance lately was a parking lot that didn't take cc's, and so I spend 15 dollar coins. The guy took them without a second look (as though he had seen them before, although I have no idea if he did or not).

My wife uses 4 one-dollar coins for each day she parks in the park&ride. Paper money is too unreliable in vending machines when you stand the chance of a $60 parking ticket.

the most i probably used in a one time purchase is video games that cost 50-60 dollars. i told the cashier first i had alot of coins and it was no big deal.

if this counts ??? almost every other week at my local Walmart they have the self-serve check out aisle. and the total has been upward to 90 dollars, so the direct-ship dollars coins all go in. it really doesnt take long at all.
i bet someone at the store hates them at the end of the day. :computer:

It seems every time I use halves at stores, and the person is younger than I (I'm 29), they seem to not even know what the coin is! There was one young lady who stared at the coin for a good ten seconds before proceeding! However, it seems everyone accepts the dollar coins with no second glance. I've made it my duty to circulate as many halves as possible in my living and work areas. :D

One time I used 39 loose saks for a car part. The till only had room for the regular coins. Don't know where they put them.

I just came from the post office where I presented 4 $25 rolls of 2001 Sacagawea's. The clerk went to see the manager first then minutes later came back. She said she just found out those coins were 'collectibles'. I was there to purchase a money order.

Unbelievable, you would think the postal employees would be more familiar with what another gov't agency's doing.
