Good afternoon all I came across what I thought was a nice condition wheat cent earlier and thought I would take a closer look. I am not very good at determining what is considered doubling so thought I would share on here to see if I have got it right this time? I’ve compared my coin to variety vista and know it doesn’t match 002 but in my eyes it does match 001. I took the best pictures I could showing things like the date and the B in liberty as well as the motto in god we trust. Many thanks in advance for any help on this one 1958 d penny by Darren Edwards posted Oct 13, 2021 at 5:04 PM 1958 d penny by Darren Edwards posted Oct 13, 2021 at 5:04 PM 1958 d penny by Darren Edwards posted Oct 13, 2021 at 5:04 PM 1958 d penny by Darren Edwards posted Oct 13, 2021 at 5:04 PM 1958 d penny by Darren Edwards posted Oct 13, 2021 at 5:04 PM 1958 d penny by Darren Edwards posted Oct 13, 2021 at 5:04 PM 1958 d penny by Darren Edwards posted Oct 13, 2021 at 5:04 PM 1958 d penny by Darren Edwards posted Oct 13, 2021 at 5:04 PM
I'm not seeing it by those images,to much light reflection to tell much. But the die cracks (IN and D of god)could be a clue to something else though.
Thank you for the reply, I’ve got to be honest I don’t see any doe cracks at all in the pictures ( am I missing something? And if so what could it mean? ) sorry about the quality of the images the coin is very shiny and the light from my microscope cannot be turned off so I will try and figure out another way to get pictures.
I did try and look at that but couldn’t determine if it was the same or if it was how I took the pictures. I was more convinced by the inside of the o and d on in god and also by the inside of the 8 and the outside of the 9 in the date. I compared to my other 1958s which aren’t the same so I’m stuck at this point lol.
It looks like a very small raised line in O in the word GOD. Not sure if that’s a start to a die crack or not but that’s all I can see. Other than it’s a very mixed looking last of the Wheat Cents.
Thanks for the replies all, I will still keep hold of it as it’s in pretty good shape I suppose. Was really hoping I had managed to determine a DD variety this time but will have to keep on searching lol. Thanks again
