I just pulled the trigger on this 1938D Jefferson, acquired from Paul (@Lehigh96). I have several 1938Ds but the toning on this one just blew me away. Paul described it as the obverse looked like the coin was “Struck in Gold.” Even though it is not FS, to me it is an amazing eye appeal coin. I think it would have been a good candidate for the star, as the obverse looks amazing. Seller’s pictures, as I don’t have it in hand, but will be excited to get it. I love me my toned Jeffersons.
That coin doesn't need FS to be a beauty. Wicked sharp obverse, typical steps for the year, and lovely gold toning.
Got the coin in hand, yesterday. It is even nicer than depicted! The obverse color glows with a golden hue, and the album toning on the reverse is beautiful. It is a wonderful addition to my collection. Thanks, @Lehigh96.
Here is its brother. I did not get this one from Paul, but it is another nicely toned early Jefferson from my collection (1938s). This one got the star for eye appeal.
