Lighthouse vs Guardhouse

By chance, I've ended up with a box of Guardhouse Tetra capsules to go with my (much larger) supply of Lighthouse Quadrums.

I actually like these (slightly larger) Guardhouse caps, and I note that Leuchtturm is no longer specifying place of origin (only "Designed in Germany") which means they're probably made in China as the Tetras are.

Question! What display albums are available for the larger Tetra caps? I have this one for my Lighthouse but I've totally outgrown it. All I see on eBay are similar ones (below) for Lighthouse only. Not interested in storage facilities--I like to look at my coins. Anyone have any ideas?

Will definitely be getting one of these for my TPG slabs. Open to other ideas though! But does anything fit the Guardhouse Tetras??

Jeez people! Don't all crowd into this thread at once, please! Take a number or something.

But seriously. What do people keep their slabs in? I'm talking generic, 2x2s, syndicates, what have you.

I'm accumulating way too many coins lately.

Hah, what do I keep my coins in? Bags, boxes, drawers, old PCGS blue boxes. I have stepped up recently and spent $16.99 each at Wizard Coin Supply online on two white cardboard Guardhouse lined slab boxes that are supposed to hold 50 each, but actually hold a few more than that and I have a bunch of flips in smaller white cardboard Guardhouse boxes that were factory seconds. Those fancy cases and holders look beautiful, congratulations!

Only in a few cases do I spent money on displays instead of coins.

I keep most of my "stuff" in 2X2's and tubes. I do have folders and albums but my choice between the two you listed is lighthouse. I have a few of those slabs.

Thanks but well I'm wavering a bit because of this:

That's just it. For the $75 to $95 these cases cost one can buy a nifty vintage coin.

I did buy a couple used cases this week so we'll see how they turn out.

Lighthouse slab albums hold 36 slabs and are nice to page through. I’m using four of them for my US type so far. Other stuff I like to use the Intercept boxes with the slab covers. People joke about “protecting the plastic slabs” but they probably haven’t paid the fees to get a nice coin crossed over out of a 25 year old scratched up slab.
Grading has gotten expensive enough to where the slab itself is part of the investment. It’s amazing how hard people are on them. Some slabs have a lot of miles on them and it takes away from the attractiveness of the coin. It prevents proper viewing and photography.
Off topic but I think eventually there’s going to be some tough decisions over CAC slabs that are so beat up you can’t see the coin anymore. Re-slab and lose the sticker or leave it? People don’t take care of these things.

I am using the Lighthouse 2x2’s, plastic binder pages to hold them, and several of their leatherette briefcase style boxes that hold several trays of holders. Keep in mind that these holders are a close metric equivalent, so are actually just a bit smaller than the Whitman clear plastic holders.

I do have three albums for Lincoln cents, Jefferson nickels, and an Intercept Shield type coin album from Wizard Coin Supply. Those gobbled up around 500 raw coins and condensed the storage requirements quite a bit by removing holders entirely.

Here is one tray with holders. There is a square cutout for each coin. It fits in the leatherette case I mentioned. The holders with frosted plastic around the coin are Whitman, the ones that have clear plastic use a black foam surround inside to hold the coin in position.

I have an idea: use the polishing compound which people use for clarifying headlight lenses on cars. I've used it with great results on an old acrylic turntable lid.

Those trays are beautiful. I'm less attracted to the mylar pages because that's an additional layer of plastic between coin and eye. I like looking at my coins! ...And at everyone else's for that matter. The WWW is a great innovation for this!

Sounds great but everybody says it doesn't work well. Just ends up leaving a bunch of fine scratches on the slab. I bought another great coin today that's in a lousy slab and will probably send it in for a re-holder eventually. There's a rub on the plastic so bad you can't even read the letters under it. Old NGC slab. I pay for scratch resistant on anything I send in.
