I have an unopened monster box of 1994 American Eagles that I know are in good to great condition. Whats a fair price to ask for the whole thing?

Fair for the buyer? Or fair for the seller?

I looked some more with no luck. My guess on value would be 16 to 18K. A few years back it was only about 10K. Nice gain.

Fair, by definition, means for both. Something is either fair or not fair, there are no maybes, there is no middle ground, there is no such thing as one or the other.

Just curious how you know that they are "in good to great condition" if the box is unopened?

1994 is a nice date for a monster box as long as it's not been opened. Try calling Rick Tomaska for an offer.

If I were the buyer you can bet that box will be opened before the purchase. Call or visit the nearest Numismatist for advice and options. I would not accept or consider melt value for them. Be smart, not sorry! Best of luck to you!

Has anyone on this Forum bought a box of ASE's or know of someone that bought one. Due to many things that are happening today, if I didn't need the money, I would not sell them, but put them in a safe place and like I said in another thread, "Keep your trap shut",

I purchased a monster box in 2015. Last year when silver prices were up, I sold them on eBay in lots of 50. The reason boxes are kept "unopened" with the mint strapping intact is that those boxes command a higher price for potential MS70 coins that may be inside. Once the straps are cut, the assumption is that the coins have been searched and that the maximum grade if sent for slabbing will be MS69.

Michael, my first question is where did you get this box? Did you buy it in 1994? Did you inherit it? Did you buy it on the open market? If so from who?

The reason I'm asking is there are a lot of scammers on Facebook claiming they are selling monster boxes but, what they are selling are monster boxes full of counterfeit silver eagles. If you know it came from APMEX or someone like JM Bullion your ok. However, if you were told that's where they came from or there is a sticker on the box making it appear like it came from one on the big dealers that doesn't mean it did. I can guarantee you that no matter who buys the box from you they will open it up. The buying won't care what you say. They know there are a lot of counterfeits on the market.

I would not buy without the original US-Mint invoice.

Most of these monster boxes go through big dealers. Have you ever seen an original US-Mint invoice for one?
