Now that the State/Territorial Quarter Series has ended, I've decided to put together a nice BU/Proof set while they're still relatively inexpensive. I figured I'd start with the keys and go from there. A few that caught my eye are the low mintage satin finish ones, particularly the 2008-P's & D's, with a mintage of approximately 745,000, which looks like the lowest mintage of the series. I know the silver proofs are also low with similar mintages. Any other thoughts about the series?

I collected them all both mints and just loved the series. Not going the proof route mind you but most of mine were BU.
I have a question for you, are there 2 mint marts for the proofs as well?

No, just one mintmark for the proofs, but they come in two compositions, either coppernickel clad or 90% silver.

In 2008, you could get the following state quarters:

    2008 P & D Business Strikes (circulation)
    2008 P & D Satin Finish (from mint sets)
2008 S Clad (clad proof sets)
2008 S Silver (silver proof sets)

I guess that makes a total of 6 different coins for each state.

  6. I think you may be onto something here. This short series may be overlooked because it will be sandwiched between the State Quarter and National Park series. It is relatively easy and inexpensive to complete. High grade coins in this series may be worth getting sooner than later. I would also think adding any errors/varieties (DC DDR for example) would be wise as well. TC
