https://www.the-sun.com/money/3820370/rare-morgan-silver-dollar-coin-value/ Gosh, I better check the spare 14 Morgan silver dollars I keep in my wallet to see if I have a match.
That was like the story several years ago telling people to look for an 1894-S dime hidden away in an old couch cushion or something. Articles like this, from stupid writers who don't do their research, only hurt the hobby.
I really don't understand why this story was written. It's just about some random eBay auction. Usually news stories about coins selling are million dollar sales. I'm a former journalist and I work in marketing, and this doesn't make sense from any perspective I can think of. I thought at first it was built for search engine ranking, which a lot of publications do, but that doesn't even make sense.
It's The Sun. Garbage sells more papers and more ads. It doesn't have to be real or accurate. Think The National Enquirer with less restraint, published daily. Gotta fill pages SOMEHOW.
Is the "Sun" a legitimate newspaper or is it a "trash" source that I need to line my cat's "poop pan"?
These types of articles is why the "WHATS IT WORTH" forum is filled to the brim with complete garbage that people thinks are worth millions. They read these articles, spend HOURS CRH'ing, find a greaser or damaged coin, and refuse to believe that its worth face value.
On the bright side, the cat would be able to make a clear positive contribution to the editorial content.
"The coin in the listing accumulated 53 bids, with the winning one totaling $4,550. That represents nearly 455,000% of its original value. " Obviously NOT a math major. Idiots don't have an editor.
