I told him about the 13-S Buffalo and he replied. I sent him a pic of the real deal with the proper 3.

This is not fake my friend who are you again.

I've seen the 1913-S with the 3 from the 30's before. Not sure where it comes from.

Typical responses, in my experience. It's called "never give up the con."

I am curious to learn, please...What is it about the two 89-CC Morgans that appear fake...enough to make such accusations...? In all honesty after looking at the photos (understand not the best), I couldn't find anything, but I may not have the trained eye or experience that you all do.

I've mentioned this on other threads, but the dead giveaway for me is the stars on the obverse. If the points are blunt and the stars mushy in appearance, like on the OP coin, it's likely a fake. A real coin has the stars well defined and the points sharp, even with wear.

Thanks for sharing your intelligence. I need to pay closer attention to this issue. Obviously I know to check for weight and magnetism but that's sort of tough to do online.

In the present case I'm not even sure I can reliably make out the issue with the stars, at least not without the coin in hand and with the assistance of a magnifying glass.

What might give me pause, though, is how poorly struck (cast?!) The T and Y of LIBERTY are. However with Peace Dollars (which I know better) there are many legitimate but weak strike issues.

Edited to add image for posterity..

Reading your description of the dead giveaway, I have this 89 CC that has the indicators of VAM 5A. Exact same die crack and mint mark arrangement. I have had it for a very long time in with my Morgans. The stars to me are questionable. Without a commitment could you advise me?

I would totally buy a fake for .99 just to take it out of circulation.

It could just be a weak strike but you have to look at the whole coin. I'm no expert by any means, but all the fake ones I've seen that I knew for sure were fake have the stars issue.
