One of my dream coins is a Flowing Hair Silver Dollar. I think the image sums up perfectly a young nation (and I like the small eagle too) I was look on E-bay as I do regularly and found this piece. I was wonder was this something that was common in the past the whole "bejewelling" coins? It seems interesting (I have a soft spot for ex-jewelry) but have never heard of Bejewelled coins https://www.ebay.ca/itm/144130498157?hash=item218ed8de6d:g:18oAAOSw3xRhAbGG
You and me both my friend . I just think it's tacky and for the price ? No way ! There's nicer ones for around the same price .
I would not say it was common... for instance, enameled coins are far more frequently encountered, but it was a thing that was sometimes done primarily in the Victorian period. I have primarily seen bejewelling on British coins, particularly late Victorian and Edwardian Farthings for some reason. This being said - not my cup of tea, especially with a missing stone. This example extraordinarily overpriced, as mentioned by Sal.
