Potty got me looking at some he was looking at and well one thing led to another and then this happened.. Pic's might not be quite good enough for guess the grade but we'll see.. mostly I'l like you to tell me what you see in the close up pic Can't wait to get this puppy in hand...
Hey there ! For starters , I see a Nice War Nickel ( Not Nickle ) .Grade ? Do you have a range in mind ? Thanks
Sorry, I normally take a shot at these, but I just didn't see this one. Lovely looking coin, well worth the 67
Can't wait to get it in hand.. if you look at the closeup of the steps, you can see they are not FS but if you look at the L's the I and the N in Monticello it very much looks like doubling to me... maybe just the pic but I don't think so
It doesn't have the look of hub doubling to me, and there is only one DDR known to Variety Vista and doesn't include Monticello. It would be unlikely that a hub doubled reverse has come to light after 77 years. Maybe study it closer when you have it in hand and can light it better. JMO, others may see something I am not http://varietyvista.com/04a JN DD Vol 1/DDR Detail Pages/1944DDDR001.htm
yeah I looked at varietyvista and did see that.. is why i can't wait to get it in hand to check the rest of it.. you can never really tell from pics lol
I would have thought the strike was too weak for a 67. Don't see any detracting marks. BUT Look at Jefferson's hair. Look at the lack of steps. I thought 65.
as for the 77 year thing... it happens... This puppy was #13 after discovery 2005ish if i remember right ( up to 29 last time i checked) so it does happen was also the 1st coin i ever condemed to a slab lol...
Also from VV the L and the O of monticello are markers for the DDR but alas as many times as i see pic that i think show doubling i'm usualy wrong... but not always lol... http://www.varietyvista.com/04a JN DD Vol 1/DDR Detail Pages/1944DDDR001.htm#Top
OK finaly in hand (had a lil delay getting it but was my fault lol) not my best pics (still on phone but should have a very nice cam again soon) I am very very happy to say even if my pics are not good enough to show it, it IS a DDR-01 complete with the die crack in the far right window
