Hi all! So, today is my birthday . This coin arrived in the post today, just in time to celebrate. It is a quite scarce antoninianus of Mariniana, with Mariniana riding on a peacock on the reverse. I already have one of these (but with the peacock facing, and in nicer condition). However, I saw this one come up on eBay in a small lot as a Buy-It-Now listing, and managed to score it for £8 (my other one cost me 10x that) Show me your coins of Mariniana, or any others that might be relevant

Well happy birthday! Not my birthday today, but in the morning I received a phone call from a courier stating he has a package for me. I thought this is a mistake as I haven't ordered anything but he confirmed it is definitely for me. It was a present from my friend and numismatic mentor from Germany. I bought from him some modern coins and banknotes (he is not into ancients). He had a huge collection that took 2 years to sell. He decided to offer, 100% free, what remained unsold and some accessories, to his friends, me included. Without telling I received a very elegant coin album with locking mechanism, that will become the host for my ancient collection and also a coin case with trays.
He is basically a walking numismatic encyclopedia. A pity he is not into ancients, never liked them too much, even if he was also the one who recommended me to start studying. But he has a great numismatic culture and he is able to detect fakes, he recognizes coins, sometimes quicker than me and has a good idea about prices.
